The Good Government Club of Western New York has selected State Sen. Mark Grisanti as the recipient of its 2012 Achievement Award, to be presented on March 15 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens during the St. Joseph's Dinner.

This is the 13th presentation of the award to a prominent Italian-American who has distinguished himself in government or public service. Some of the past recipients of the award include the mayor of Buffalo, Erie County executive, Erie County comptroller, Erie County district attorney and New York State commissioner of motor vehicles.

"I am honored to receive this worthy distinction from the Good Government Club of Western New York, which for over 35 years, has worked to advance the principles of good government in our community," Grisanti said. "As an Italian-American, I take great pride in being able to work to improve the lives, jobs, safety and health of my constituents. Additionally, I would like to thank Donald Alessi and the officers of the Good Government Club for this award and promise to continue to do the right thing putting people first - not politics."

Grisanti is a member of the Italian American Conference in New York State.

The Good Government Club of Western New York is affiliated with the Western New York Federation of Italian-American Societies and the National Italian American Foundation.
