The work of local artist and Castellani Art Museum curator Michael Beam will be shown and sold this month at Wine On Third in Niagara Falls. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 15.

Beam's work continues the ongoing series "Third Thursday on Third," model after Allentown's "First Friday." His work will be on view in the bar gallery of Wine on Third and can be seen Monday through Saturday, from 4 p.m. to close.

Beam's first solo exhibition in Western New York is titled "Michael Beam: The Ides of March."

"The ides of March is the name of the 15th day of March in the Roman calendar," Beam said. "The word 'ides' comes from the Latin word 'idus,' meaning 'half division,' pertaining to a month or a period of time. My exhibition, of the same title, suggests an important point of reference, a personal perspective, which offers a unique opportunity to look back and, at the same time, considers the future - a mid-career or half-division 'idus' of my creative output. Perhaps a look at my artistic productivity is obviously a bit more important because of what it represents, but I am not dwelling too much on it. It's the end of a chapter."

To purchase works, contact Michael Beam Studios at 716-361-8225
