The families of the Lewiston Dance Center, located in the mini plaza on Cayuga Street, announced formation of the Lewiston Dance Center Family Booster Club, or "LDC Family Booster Club," and are organizing their first fundraiser. The group's vendor sale and basket auction will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 505 Cayuga St. (back entrance).

The event will feature a flea market for families to sell their gently used items. Food and refreshments will be available as well. Admission is $1 for ages 16 and older.

Organizer Sally Kolkmeyer reports all profits will go toward offsetting family expenses at Lewiston Dance Center, including the student's tuition, costumes and pictures.

The Lewiston Dance Center, which has been in the Village of Lewiston for 19 years, has done numerous performances for the community, including at such events as the Lewiston Peach Festival, the annual Lewiston Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, a performance at the Hennepin Park Gazebo during the Lewiston Art Festival, the "Fairy House Festival" at Artpark, Youngstown Labor Day parade, Niagara Falls Firemen's Telethon, halftime at Niagara University basketball games, the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls and at the Niagara Falls Holiday Market. The Lewiston Dance Center also does a food drive every year.

"Students from LDC love to perform for their community and help out in any way they can," said Rachel Novelli, director of the Lewiston/GI Dance Centers.

Students and parents will be going around to the local businesses asking for donations for their basket auction. For more information, or to make a donation, contact Sally Kolkmeyer at 479-1412. Vendors are still being accepted. To rent a table, email [email protected]
