The Town of Lewiston's new ice rink at Academy Park continues to gain in popularity.

Last weekend saw a "Taste of Lewiston" event hosted by Casa Antica that was well received. In photo No. 1, Giuseppe Bellanca from Casa Antica is busy serving customers in the warming tent. In photo No. 2, area kids take over the rink.

"We estimated that about 800 people used the ice rink between Friday and Sunday, and Friday night was awesome as a light snow fell and we had a huge crowd, which only got bigger on Saturday," said Town of Lewiston Recreation Director Mike Dashineau.

He added Sunday was also enjoyable with the vast majority of rink users being families, parents with young children and grandparents with grandchildren.

The rink is open throughout the winter months. Rink hours are 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is free.
