The Helping Hands dinner dance is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport. The event runs from 5 to 11 p.m., and is presented by Former Troopers Helping Hands Inc., sponsored by the Association of Former New York State Troopers Inc., Niagara Frontier Chapter.

Advanced tickets are priced at $25 per person.

Lloyd Schwab, director of Former Troopers Helping Hands, reports that proceeds from the event will go to the FTHH, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comfort and understanding to terminally ill children and their families in an effort to bring them some happiness in the midst of difficult times.

"The thought of this event was to provide a central place to get friends and family together at the holidays, while helping a good cause," says event spokesperson Julie Heiman. "This is going to be a fun night with dinner, drinks, dancing and raffles, with the idea 'bring your party to the party' for only $25 per person."

Heiman says FTHH organizers are aiming for a sold-out event so they can present Former Troopers Helping Hands Inc. with a substantial amount to help these kids out.

Ticket price includes a buffet dinner, wine, beer and soft drinks. The event also includes entertainment by Whirlin' Disc Sound and photos by Glena Photography. A 50-50 split will be offered.
