Niagara County Auxiliary Police hosts open houses

The Niagara County Auxiliary Police is hosting two open house events to look for new recruits.

The events will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Niagara County Emergency Management Facility, 5574 Niagara St. Ext., Lockport.

The Niagara County Auxiliary Police serves the community and assists with local law enforcement, including, but not limited to, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Lockport Police Department, Lewiston Police Department and the Town of Niagara Police. Officers of the NCAP assist at Niagara County community events by providing patrolmen for traffic control, bike patrol, crowd control and more. All members are sworn peace officers and on average receive 150 hours of training prior to certification.

Members must be residents of Niagara County and citizens of the U.S. over the age of 21. Men and women interested in applying to the unit can get information and a pre-application at www.niagaracountyauxiliarypolice.com or by calling 438-3171.
