Grand opening for Niagara Falls Armed Forces Reserve Center

The United States Army Reserve's 99th Regional Support Command will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the Niagara Falls Armed Forces Reserve Center later this morning.

The Army Reserve's state-of-the-art Armed Forces Reserve Center is located at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. The 86,000-square-foot facility will be home to soldiers from the Army Reserve's 277th Quartermaster Company, 865th Combat Support Hospital and 1982nd Medical Detachment, as well as Headquarters Company of the New York Army National Guard's 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry.

The 99th RSC acts as a "virtual installation" that provides world-class base operations support to more than 50,000 Army Reserve soldiers, 400 units and 300 facilities for the entire northeast region from Maine to Virginia for the Army Reserve, providing reservists and their families with care, support, services and training.

Scheduled to speak at the event are: Maj. Gen. Patrick A. Murphy, adjutant general for New York; U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador Norbert J. Rappl, Reserve ambassador for New York; and Col. Andrew Burns, command inspector general for the 99th RSC.
