If you're desperately clinging to every last piece of summer, it is probable that a delicious cone of custard is one of those things. Hibbard's Custard in Lewiston is serving up its delectable homemade ice cream until the end of October.

Open daily from 1 until 9 p.m., patrons can enjoy a cone or take a pint to go.

What goes better with sweet custard than a salty side of french fries? Hibbard's has probably taken this thought into consideration as the business moves forward in the construction of a new lunch and dinner restaurant next to the custard complex.

Anticipated eats for the restaurant will be hot dogs, hamburgers, beef-on-weck, onion rings and, of course, french fries. The final menu is still being discussed.

In addition to the restaurant being open year-round, chocolate and vanilla custard will be available 365 days a year to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Kris Trunzo, whose family owns the Hibbard's enterprise, thanks customers for the successful past season and looks forward to opening the doors of the new restaurant.

"Thank you to all of our patrons. We are expecting to see you in the spring with the grand opening of our new restaurant!" said Trunzo with an optimistic and excited attitude.

The new restaurant and re-opening of Hibbard's Custard are set for the spring of 2012.

Hurry in, and stock up on homemade custard before the doors close for the season!

Hibbard's Custard is located at 105 Portage Road.
