Lewiston teenager Michelle Ball recently had the opportunity to appear in Hollywood's biggest budget film of the year: "The Dark Knight Rises." The picture, staring Christian Bale and directed by Christopher Nolan, follows the success of "The Dark Knight," which was the third largest grossing movie of all time. With a returning cast and crew from the original movies (including "Batman Begins"), "The Dark Knight Rises" is sure to be the blockbuster hit of the 2012 summer season.

The production company shot in diverse locations such as Jodhpur, India; London; Inverness, Scotland; Los Angeles; Pittsburgh; and New York City. Michelle, escorted by her mother, Kelly Mac-Hosking, and stepfather, Craig Hosking, linked up with the film crew in both Scotland and Pittsburgh. Although details of the movie are closely guarded secrets protected by confidentiality agreements, Michelle will appear quite prominently about halfway through the movie. Her scene plays with veteran actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("John Blake") and Chris Ellis ("Priest").

Michelle had the opportunity to work with two Academy Award winners: Wally Pfister, the director of photography, and Paul J. Franklin, the visual effects supervisor. Both men won Oscars for their work on Nolan's "Inception." Michelle also had the opportunity to meet Anne Hathaway ("Catwoman"), who was very sweet and supportive of Michelle's interests in acting. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed with Anne, because she was wearing her super-secret costume.

Michelle has studied acting at the NY Film Academy in Los Angeles and the nation's top Shakespearian Festival in Utah. She appeared in an IMAX movie earlier this year in Hawaii.

At the conclusion of filming in Pittsburgh, Michelle beamed, "This is one of the coolest things I've ever done!"
