Ransomville Free Methodist Church invites the community to "Pig-a-palooza 7." The community picnic will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, on the grounds of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Road.

Church organizer Bob Moore reports the picnic will feature pork with all the fixings. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. (a simple donation is requested). Trusello's Pizza also will be offered.

Moore describes the event as not being a church fundraiser, per se, but "Our opportunity to celebrate our wonderful community, and expose the community to the ministry of our church."

One church ministry he would like to see benefit from this event is the food pantry, which serves the area's needy. "(I'm hopeful) this event raises the awareness for those in need," said Moore.

"Pig-a-palooza 7" is open to area residents and visitors. Participants will find a number of attractions and offerings, including live music featuring Revelation; Vernon James, a professional sax musician; Carmen Presti's Primates; juggler/comedian Nels Ross of Injest; the Cataract Cruisers classic car show; a petting zoo and pony rides; the SPCA Wildlife Rehabbers; the Christian Bow Hunters; hay rides; games; face-painting and balloons; and a bounce house.

Also, a UNYTS blood drive; free blood pressure checks at the first aid station; the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co.; the Food Bank of Western New York; an ABC Nursery display; booths for 4H, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts; the Ransomville Free Methodist Church ministry booths; and the Ransomville Rural Retirees.

Pig-a-palooza 7 will be held rain or shine. It concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 8 p.m., sponsored by CWM, Hardison Funeral Home, First Niagara Bank and Ki-Po Motors.
