Lewiston Library September calendar

The Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St., in the Village of Lewiston, announces the following programs, events and activities for September.

Special programs

•A Microsoft Word intermediate (resume template) class will be offered Thursday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sign up as registration is limited.

•The Buffalo Museum of Science Egypt presentation will take place Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Registration is required.

Clubs and more

•The Lewiston Book Club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 1:30 p.m. For further information, contact Anita Mallimo at 754-7714.

•A Special Mom's Book Chat will be held Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at Wine On Third, in Niagara Falls. Discussed will be "Seduction," with special guest and author Catherine Gildiner. Register early, space is limited.

•The Knitting Club meets every Friday, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Ellen Comerford at 754-4144. No registration is required and knitters of all skill levels are welcome.

•The Lewiston Writers' Group will meet on Monday, Sept. 12, at Ashker's Café, 400 Main St., in Youngstown. LWR will also meet Sept. 26 at the Lewiston Public Library. Both sessions run from 5 to 8 p.m.

•The Dead Beats Society will meet on Monday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Local History Room. For details, call Michelle Kratts at the library, 754-4720, or email [email protected].

•The Coffin Club continues its search for photographers. Those in high school or college with a camera, access to a computer and some time to spend photographing Niagara area cemeteries are asked to call Michelle at the library, 754-4720, or email [email protected].

•September meetings for the month include the Lewiston Library Board of Trustees, Monday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m.; Friends of the Library, Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.; the Lake Ontario Ordinance Works Restoration Advisory Board, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m.; and the Lewiston Garden Club, Mondays, Sept. 19 and 26, at 10 a.m.

•The Friends of the Lewiston Public Library maintain a used book room all year long; it's open during library hours. Items for sale include fiction, non-fiction, and children's materials.

Story times

•Alphabet Soup with Miss Ann, for children ages 3 to 5, will be held on Mondays, Sept. 19 and 26, at 10:30 a.m.

•Lap sit story time with Miss Ann, for children age birth to 23 months, will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 21 and 28, at 9:30 a.m.

•Toddler hour with Miss Ann, for children ages 24 months to 3 years, will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 21 and 28, at 10:30 a.m.

•Story time with Mrs. Leardini, for children of all ages, will take place on Thursdays, Sept. 22 and 29, at 10:30 a.m. Call or stop by to register for all programs.

•First card sign-ups will run from Sept. 1 to 30. Any child who signs up for a library card for the first time will receive a book to keep. The child must be able to sign his/her first and last name. Parents must sign the application and have identification with a current name and address. Once a child has his/her new card, he/she can come to the children's room for his/her book. Registration day at the library will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 1:30 to 7 p.m.

•Tail Waggin' Tutors will begin in October with a meet and greet; registration is now under way.
