NYSERDA program to start Sept. 2

Assemblyman John Ceretto is pleased to announce that the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority has unveiled a new $3 million rebate program for the purchase of high-efficiency Energy Star refrigerators and washing machines. Ceretto noted the program will begin next Friday, Sept. 2.

According to NYSERDA, rebates of $350 will be available for high-efficiency refrigerators and $250 for high-efficiency washing machines that meet Consortium for Energy Efficiency super-efficiency levels.

"This is a great opportunity to go green and save some green while purchasing new appliances for one's home," Ceretto said. "However, the appliance-rebate program is on a first-come, first-served basis, so I am encouraging Niagara County residents to sign up for the program as soon as possible."

Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for completed applications, which will be available on a special website to be launched prior to the kickoff date or by calling 1-877- NY-SMART (877-697-6278). Purchases made before Sept. 2 are not eligible for rebates. The program will continue until funding runs out.

The new rebate program, known as "Buy Green, Save Green NYS High-Efficiency Appliance Rebate Program," is supported by federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and approved through the U.S. Department of Energy for use by New York state.
