Michael Roemer, 2011 chairman of the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival, announced the festival's annual cheerleading competition will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m. on the Academy Park stage. The Kiwanis Club encourages all Western New York and Canadian high school cheerleading groups to enter this fun, cost-free competition.

During the program, each group will perform a routine, which may last between two-and-a-half and five minutes. High school junior varsity and varsity teams will open the competition and, for the rest of the evening, groups will perform in order of their members' age ranges.

The judges, Pat Starowitz, Ann Marie DiMino-Hepfer, Carol Houwaart-Diez, Lewiston Town Councilman Ronald Winkley, Robert S'Dao, and Margaret Toohey, will rank each performance. First-, second-, and third-place finishers will be awarded trophies.
