Jason Raby 5K is Friday

The Lewiston-Porter Alumni Association announces the third annual Jason Raby Memorial 5K Run and Fun Walk will be held Friday, Aug. 12, at Lewiston-Porter High School.

Raby, a 2001 Lew-Port graduate, earned 10 varsity letters during his Lew-Port career. He ran cross-country, track and played basketball. His 3200 relay team went to the New York state meet in his senior year, with each runner running a one-half mile leg.

Raby attended Buffalo State College, where he again ran track and cross-country.

At the age of 25, he tragically died while playing basketball at Niagara University.

When Coach Harry Lawler was asked to reflect on Raby, he commented, "Jason was a dedicated, hard working, quiet, respectful, young man."

His sister, Jennifer, Class of 2009 commented "Jason was always there to support me in my athletic endeavors."

LPAA wishes to honor Jason's memory with its Jason Raby Memorial 5K Run and Fun Walk. The event includes food, fun, door prizes, and music by The Brass Monkeez.
