Emmy-nominated actress Lucy Liu of "Kill Bill: Volume 1" and "Charlie's Angels" has been cast as a special guest star on this upcoming season of TNT's acclaimed police drama "Southland." The series currently stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie, and is set to air in January 2012. Liu will be joining as a member of the LAPD.

Liu is known for her sensational performances in film, television and on stage. She recently returned as Viper in the animated film "Kung Fu Panda 2," and completed filming "The Man with the Iron Fists" with Russell Crowe, to be released later this year. She recently earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for her performance in Lifetime's "Marry Me" as well. Her credits extend to the "Charlie's Angels" films, Rob Marshall's Oscar-winning film "Chicago," and the hit television series "Ally McBeal."

TNT's "Southland" is set directly on the streets of L.A. to present an up-close, first-person look at cops and detectives on the move. It not only covers the workforce, but focuses on the officers' lives - something most police dramas do not do. Shot directly on the streets of Los Angeles, Southland captures a realistic, natural environment where similar situations often occur.
