Bring a southwestern flare to your home or office when you create a festive assorted cacti and succulents planter during a hands-on seminar held by the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Proceeds will benefit the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, which offers training and horticulture therapy to people with developmental disabilities from across Niagara County and neighboring communities. These individuals nurture the plants and create the arrangements for sale year-round.

The "Cactus Garden" class will be held at 2510 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield (between Sy and Witmer roads).

Register by Aug. 15. Payment of $25 includes step-by-step instructions as well as all materials to create an arrangement. No experience is necessary. Paid reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. The class is limited to 40 people; a minimum of 20 people is required for the class. A special group rate for six or more attendees is available.

Registration may be done with credit card, check or cash either in person at the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by calling 504-2617, ext. 244. Email questions to [email protected].
