New York Power Authority President Richard M. Kessel announced competitive contract awards to firms in various parts of New York state in support of NYPA's statewide operations, including hydroelectric and natural gas-fueled generating facilities, wide-ranging energy efficiency services, and administrative offices. The latest awards are part of the money that NYPA expends annually for equipment, supplies, professional expertise and other services provided by numerous New York enterprises.

New York state firms approved for competitively bid contracts included Coverco of Grand Island. The firm will provide plumbing-pipe insulation services for the Niagara Power Project under a $50,000 contract of up to four years.

"Businesses in New York state play a crucial role in supporting the Power Authority's many operations and the contributions we make for the state's electric power system, economy and environment," Kessel said.  "The competitive contract awards to New York businesses further economic activity, providing jobs for craft workers and support personnel, with the benefits cascading to other businesses that serve those enterprises."
