Mount St. Mary's sports medicine offers sports training for high school athletes

Program is free for Lewiston-Porter and Starpoint Central students 

The Sports Medicine Department of Mount St. Mary's Hospital will offer a series of basic conditioning programs for high school age students starting July 6. Led by certified athletic trainers Jason Hopkins, ATC, and Brian Healy, ATC, the program will focus on endurance, speed, agility and injury prevention to assist athletes in grades 9-12 prepare for the fall 2011 season. The programs will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The program will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Lewiston-Porter from July 11 through Aug. 12, and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Starpoint Central from July 6-29. Because of athletic training contracts Mount St. Mary's has with Lewiston-Porter and Starpoint, it is free of charge for students of those schools. Other high school-age students may attend for a registration fee of $120.
