Jeanne Klein, a volunteer at the Lewiston Museum, will be presented the Josiah Tryon Award at this year's Historical Association of Lewiston's annual celebration that will take place at the Niagara Falls Country Club on Wednesday, June 29, at 6 p.m.

"We will never be able to thank Jeanne enough for her countless volunteer hours in recruiting and organizing the scores of other volunteers who staff our museum. She and her colleagues are true ambassadors for our association, Lewiston and the entire area, and we are so proud of the work they do," said HAL director Pamela Hauth.

Other award winners include: Friend of History Award to Lewiston Supervisor Steve Reiter; the Reuben Lewis Award (War of 1812) to Gerry Ferguson and Wendt's Propane for their significant contribution to the Flames Through Lewiston project; the Calvin Hotchkiss Award (business of the year) to Nick and Amanda Alexander of the Black Pearl; and the Benjamin Barton Award (outstanding contributions) to Kay Kalick, Erin Weber, Matt Gallagher and Jeff Jordan.

"Our annual celebration enables us to publicly thank our scores of volunteers and sponsors who have donated their money, time and energies to help us promote and preserve Lewiston's rich heritage," said volunteer president, Lee Simonson. "These individuals have made a tremendous difference and their enthusiasm, dedication and service, have put Lewiston on the map. The entire community is grateful of their exceptional contributions and the celebration offers us a great opportunity to publicly offer our sincere appreciation for everything they do."

The public is invited to the celebration. Tickets are on sale now for $30 each and include dinner and a half-off coupon for a ride on the Black Pearl tall ship this summer. Tickets can be obtained by calling 754-4214 (Purchasers must attend the dinner to receive the coupon.) Reservations must be made by June 17.
