Ryan Henderson, 35, of Lewiston, who was killed in a Ridge Road accident in January, will be among five honored at the Health Association of Niagara County Inc.'s annual meeting and luncheon on June 2. The event begins at noon at the Sheraton at the Falls, 300 Third St.

Henderson will be posthumously awarded the Karen Albond Courage in Caring Award, presented annually to an individual who perseveres in service to others despite a disability. He was nominated by his parents, Timothy and Rebecca Henderson, who cited their son's tenacity in overcoming challenges throughout his life. These include his battle with stuttering to become an accomplished singer and musician, and his efforts to conquer severe asthma to become a marathon runner. Henderson went on to work as a site manager for Rivershore Inc., where he served people with developmental disabilities.

Also honored will be Lewiston resident James V. Glynn, chairman of the Maid of the Mist Corporation. Glynn will receive the Chris Richbart Heart of HANCI Award for his philanthropic support of HANCI and numerous other nonprofit organizations in the Niagara community.

HSBC Bank USA, N.A., Community Development Department will receive the Outstanding Partner Award, while the Outstanding Sponsor Award will go to Variety - the Children's Charity of Buffalo and Western New York. Antonio's Restaurant, Banquet and Conference Center will receive a Special Recognition Award for business excellence.

Tickets are $30 each. Reservations are being accepted at 285-8224, ext. 211, or [email protected], and are due by May 23.
