During spring break, Cub Scout Pack 833 (Wheatfield), Pack 630 (Grand Island) and Pack 529 (Kenmore) had a skate night at the Rainbow Roller Rink. This was the same week as the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. The Scouts made a banner and all the kids signed it. Cub Pack 833 Scoutmaster David Cirino was in Oklahoma City for his job soon after and placed the banner on the fence at the memorial. The first fence was installed to protect the site of the Murrah Building. Almost immediately, people began to leave tokens of love and hope on the fence. Those items now total more than 60,000 and are collected and preserved. Today, more than 200 feet of the original fence gives people the opportunity to leave tokens of remembrance and hope.
