The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University will host "The MEAD Party: An Art-Infused Celebration" on Friday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Proceeds from this art-themed fundraiser, presented in conjunction with the exhibition "PUBLIC/PRIVATE: Pairings with Works from the Gerald Mead Collection," will benefit exhibitions and programs at Niagara University's contemporary art museum.

"As much as they are places to contemplate art, museums can also be places for parties just to enjoy the spirit of art-making in the company of artists and collectors," Mead said. "I am very pleased that the Castellani Art Museum has created this unique and accessible occasion for art-themed fun and revelry during the exhibition of my collection."

Tickets are $35 for artists and $50 for friends. Ticket price includes gourmet food, an open bar, and a special silent auction of artworks by regional artists represented in the Gerald Mead Collection, including: Bruce Adams, Rita Argen Auerbach, Patricia Layman Bazelon, Bonnie Gordon, Adele Henderson, Biff Henrich, Chris Nickard, Gary Nickard, Barbara Rowe and Amos Sangster.

Several prominent regional artists will create interactive artworks for the event.  Attendees will be able to take original artwork home with them.

The "MEAD Party" will also feature a "Mead tasting" with samples of several brands of the honey-based fortified wine, provided by Supermarket Liquors and Wines of Niagara Falls, New York.

Buffalo Spree is the media sponsor of the event.

Reserve your ticket by April 20.  For more information, contact Michael Beam at 286-8286.
