Mount St. Mary's Hospital presents series of health education programs in April

Mount St. Mary's Hospital will present a series of programs in April as part of its "Health For All Seasons" health education program and event series.

On Wednesday, April 6, "Health for All Seasons" will present "Is Osteoporosis Impacting Your Spine? Hear About Treatment Options." The presentation will be conducted by Young Jae Yu, MD, neurosurgeon at Mount St. Mary's, and will include discussion about spinal stenosis. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Room 249 of the main hospital building. Register by calling 298-2145.

On Friday, April 8, Mount St. Mary's will host a community blood drive by Upstate New York Transplant Services. The drive will take place in Room 249 of the main hospital building from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Appointments are accepted at 298-2145 and walk-ins are welcome.

On April 12-14, Debra Hoffman, a certified diabetes educator, will present "Taking Charge of Your Diabetes". This is a series of three sessions taking place from 9 a.m. until noon. It will be held in Room 249 of the main hospital building. To register, call 298-2297.

Starting Tuesday, April 12, and continuing on April 19 and 26, a pre-diabetes education class series will be held for those who are overweight, have a family history of diabetes, and have slightly elevated blood sugars. Learn how to make lifestyle changes that may help slow the progression toward diabetes. This series will focus on nutrition, exercise and healthy habits. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, from 6:30 until 8 p.m., in Room 249. Pre-registration required. Call 298-2297.

On Wednesday, April 13, "Health for All Seasons" will present "Sleep Apnea and the Heart: Is There a Connection?" The presentation will be conducted by Edward Ventresca, MD, pulmonologist, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 249 of the main hospital building. Register by calling 298-2145.
