NBC's primetime investigative series "Dateline" was in Niagara County earlier this week to film segments for a spring episode. Members of the team stayed in Lewiston, at the Barton Hill Hotel & Spa.

"We were proud to be part of 'Dateline' selecting Lewiston in Western New York to do the primary interview in an investigative reporting piece on the unsolved crime ... involving a Western New York family," said hotel owner Diane Finkbeiner.

"Dateline" sent a full crew - including a producer and sound and recording engineers from New York City and California.

Finkbeiner said the hotel was selected, "for its beauty and the information about the region as (the producer) wanted an appropriate and comfortable setting for the 'Dateline' time. The producer called Lewiston a 'little slice of heaven' and enjoyed the history tour I gave them."

She added, "Lewiston was brought to their attention by the marketing efforts we made one year ago to all the major news and variety formats for the three main networks asking them to consider our village for its beauty, convenience to NYC, and the many cultural and historical opportunities. Our mayor kindly stopped in to formally welcome 'Dateline' to Lewiston.

"Lewiston is a wonderful community and it continues to shine in far away places."
