The Grand Island Central School District, in cooperation with the Grand Island School and Business Alliance will present the 13th annual Corporate Bowl March 15 and 22.

Corporate Bowl is an academic challenge where Grand Island High School teams compete for scholarship awards through several rounds of competition. The fast-paced questioning creates an exciting mood as teams rush to "buzz in" with the correct answer. This year, 27 teams (108 students) will face off in core areas including math, science, history, English language arts, foreign language, art, music and current events.

The event takes place in the Grand Island High School Auditorium. The first round kicks off on Tuesday, March 15, at 6 p.m. Nine match winners from March 15 advance to the semifinal and finals round Tuesday, March 22, at 6 p.m. Time Warner Cable Sports Net will record the finals and will feature the event on a public access channel at a later date.

The annual Corporate Bowl provides $6,000 in scholarship money to Grand Island High School students, thanks in part to the many businesses, school personnel and individuals who donate money through sponsorships and GISBA memberships. A total of $3,000 ($750 each) will be awarded to the team that wins the Corporate Bowl championship; $2,000 ($500 each) will go to the second place team, and the third place team will earn $1,000 ($250 each) in scholarship money.

Corporate Bowl is one of many programs sponsored by GISBA, an organization that encourages learning while forging a strong alliance between local businesses and the Grand Island scholastic community.
