Responding to a recent wave of residential break-ins, the Lewiston Police Department is offering another service to residents. Chief Chris Salada reports the police department will conduct free security assessments of residences.

"Lewiston Police officers will respond to your residence to complete this service, fill out an assessment checklist and make recommendations," says Salada.

Articles in the residence LPD will inspect include locks, lighting, windows, doors, bushes and much more. Suggestions will be given to the homeowner to make the residence more secure and less attractive to criminals.

"This service is used to determine the level of security at your home and increase that level, if need be," says Salada. "This service also gives residents a chance to speak to officers face to face and discuss issues in their home and neighborhoods."

Any residents looking to take advantage of this service can call the Lewiston Police Department at 754-8477 and ask for officers Kevin Morse or Josh Cain.
