N-W Adult Education classes

Niagara-Wheatfield's Adult Education program has several classes starting in March that will help shake the winter blues.

All classes are held in Niagara-Wheatfield school buildings, including the high school and Edward Town Middle School campus at 2292 Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn, Colonial Village Elementary School at 1456 Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Niagara and West Street Elementary School, corner of West Street and Saunders Settlement Roads, Sanborn.

For those mystified by the mysterious, the popular lecturer Dr. Philip Haseley will present "UFO and Alien Abductions: The Haunted Skies," from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the high school at a cost of $15. Basic psychic development, a six-session program set for Tuesdays, begins March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the high school ($75).

Getting into shape for warm weather activities is always important, and total body conditioning," begins on Monday, March 7, at the West Street Elementary School gym. Classes will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. until May 4 at a cost of $85. "Tactical Self-Defense Part II," will run on Thursdays, staring March 24, also at West Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. until May 5 at a cost of $45. Zumba fitness will start a six-session class at 6 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Colonial Village ($35).

Other health and wellness classes at the high school include "Bioidentical Hormones and their Role in Anti-Aging Medicine" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 ($15); "The Balance Factor," 6 p.m. Thursday, March 3, focuses on better balance, ($10); "Think Well, Feel Well, Stay Well," 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, ($23); "Basic Swedish Massage for Couples and Other Pairs of Friends" 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, ($70 per couple); "Geriatric Care Management" 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, ($25); and "Assistive Living" 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, ($25).

Also to begin in March at the high school are classes in Medicaid eligibility," 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, ($25); skilled nursing, 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, ($25); "Understanding and Helping Your Neck Pain," 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, ($20).

Celebrate the delicious days of spring with classes at Edward Town like "St. Joseph's Day Artichokes & More!" 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, ($27); "Cheese Tasting and Cooking," 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, ($30); "Breakfast Foods: Perfect Eggs, Waffles and More," 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 ($27). For those with a background in cake decorating, Wilton Flowers and Cake Design is a four-session class to run at 6 p.m. Mondays from March 7 ($38).  "Butter Lamb and Easter Dessert Treat," is a popular class set at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 ($27) and for the special dog in your life, "Bow-WOW! Doggie Biscuit Baking Class," is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24 ($27).

And there's plenty more in March, including dance, music, arts and crafts, computer and financial classes.
