The Ransomville Speedway office is a buzz of activity as the upcoming season plans continue to be made. Tana Robinson, public relations and marketing director, reports the schedule is nearly complete, while plans for the annual membership meeting and car show also are also in the works. "It's an exciting time of the year," stated Robinson. "I am often asked, 'What do you do all winter?' Believe it or not promoting a racetrack is a full-time job. It does not end in September when the season is complete. It's just the opposite; plans immediately begin for the following year."

Coors Light has been the presenting sponsor of the annual Alex Friesen Summer Nationals for over 20 years. That longstanding tradition will continue in 2011 as a sponsorship agreement was reached this week at the Certo Brothers' offices in West Seneca. "Ransomville Speedway is such a strong part of the community," commented Larry Placek of Certo Brothers. "We look forward to this event every year and feel it's important to be a part of a facility that has such local support."

As was previously announced, this year's event will take place on Friday, Aug. 19. While the date is a bit later than is customary, it will allow the Brewerton Speedway weekly competitors the opportunity to chase the big dollar show. Committed to date are Lightning Larry Wight, Billy Decker, Pat Ward, and Roy Breshnahan. Many more are expected to make the trek to Western New York in chase of the five-figure payday. The Original Pizza Logs Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstocks, and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers will fill the racing card. Gates will open Aug. 19 at 4:30 p.m. in both the pit area and grandstands with racing slated for 7 p.m.

•Once again, the Grelak Mechanical Sportsman Nationals will highlight the support class in a 50-lap $2,000 to win event on Friday, July 29. "Randy Jasulevich of Grelak Mechanical was the one who came up with the idea for the Sportsman Nationals," commented Robinson. "His wish was to showcase a support class with a high-paying special mid-season. Since the Streetstocks had the King of the Hill at that time, the decision was to highlight the Sportsman division, thus the Sportsman Nationals were born." This year's event will also include the Mighty Taco Modifieds, Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstocks, and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers.

•Dig Safely NY has been a presenting sponsor at Ransomville Speedway for the past seven seasons and will once again play host to a full card of racing on Friday, June 24. Both Larry Bishop and John Roth of Dig Safely NY have a strong presence at tracks throughout New York state educating fans about the importance of safety first.

•Molson Canadian, the Niagara County Fair, and Crosby Marts have renewed their advertising agreements for the upcoming season as well. To sponsor a company night or advertise via billboards or program ads, call the office at 791-3602 or e-mail [email protected].
