Niagara Hospice and the Niagara Hospice Alliance are competing for grants of $250,000 and $25,000 from the Pepsi Refresh Project during the month of January.

The winners will be decided by popular vote, so Niagara Hospice is reaching out to the community to encourage supporters to vote.

If awarded, the $250,000 grant would be used to purchase a residential home facility to accommodate homeless veterans in need of hospice care. The facility would provide a "five star" location where ailing homeless veterans can reach the end of their lives in dignity and comfort. They would be assured the care, honor and respect they deserve at a time when it's needed most.

The other grant of $25,000 would be used to purchase a vehicle to provide transportation and delivery services to patients and their families. The vehicle would ensure that patients are able to get to essential locations as well as allow patients, family members, and friends to stay connected. The vehicle would also deliver necessary supplies to patient homes.
