Members of the Jack Beatty Hospice Memorial Regatta and Hospice Dash committees presented Niagara Hospice with $29,000 in proceeds from their Niagara River Boat Cruise and Clambake that took place in July at the Youngstown Yacht Club and the 5K Run/Walk in September at Porter on the Lake.

This year marked the 11th year of success for the Memorial Regatta, raising more than $232,000 to date and making it the largest independent fundraiser for Niagara Hospice. The event has become well known throughout Niagara County and continues to grow with guests and supporters every year. The River Boat Cruise and Clambake is open to the public and is known to be one of the best parties of the summer.

The year 2010 marked the second year for the Hospice Dash raising more than $10,000 to date. Participants followed a scenic route through Four Mile State Park. All registered runners/walkers received a free Nike T-shirt, and awards were given to first, second and third place male and female racers in age categories from 14-and-under to 80-plus.

All proceeds from both events go to Niagara Hospice and Niagara Hospice House. "We are forever grateful for the continuous dedication of the Beatty family. Year after year they put on such phenomenal events for Niagara Hospice," said Niagara Hospice President and CEO John Lomeo.

This year's River Cruise and Clambake will be held on Friday July 8, and the Regatta will follow on Saturday, July 9. The third annual Hospice Dash will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24.
