The Niagara County Community College Art Gallery and arts and media division will present "Fabric of War; Papermaking and Printmaking as Social Engagement" from Jan. 27 to Feb. 26 in the gallery on the Sanborn campus.

"Fabric of War" is a powerful exhibition of work created by veterans through The Combat Paper Project, which utilizes art-making workshops offered throughout the U.S. to assist veterans in reconciling and sharing their personal experiences of service and military culture.

The public is invited to not only view this work, but to touch it and experience it as a personal event.  Additional information about this project may be found online at http://www.combatpaper.org/.

Opening receptions will be held from 12:15 to 2 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the art gallery.

In conjunction with this show, hands-on workshops and demonstrations will be held in the lobby of the NCCC Arts and Media Building for two weeks: from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, "Paper making with Combat Paper Artists"; and from Feb. 7 to 11, "Printmaking with artists Anne Muntges and Hyeyoung Shin."

In addition, two artist's talks will be held in the NCCC Art Gallery: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, the Combat Paper artists will speak, and 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, printmaking artists Anne Muntges and Hyeyoung Shin will speak.

To conclude the two weeks of active art making, a closing ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in the lobby of the NCCC Arts & Media building. There will be a public giveaway of paper and prints created during the preceding two weeks of workshops.

For further information, contact the NCCC Art Gallery at 614-5975 or the arts and media division at 614-5960.
