The Buffalo Film Society and the Lancaster Opera House present the classic film "Meet John Doe" on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., and a matinee screening on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m.

Frank Capra and Gary Cooper team up for a tale of an everyman who captures the heart of America with a desperately needed message of hope. Oscar nominated in 1941, it resonates more than ever today.

The screening is part of "Cinema Classics:" a monthly series of motion picture masterpieces with selected short subjects.

Each program is accompanied by an episode of the 12-chapter "Republic Serial: Radar Men From the Moon," starring Commando Cody and his rocket suit. When Rettig the Moon Menace threatens to destroy the earth for an invasion of Moon Men, Cody battles the invaders.

Also on display is "The Three Stooges," W.C. Fields, Popeye, Betty Boop and more.

Tickets for the screenings, sponsored by MVP Health Care, are $5 or $4 for Lancaster Opera House and Buffalo Film Society members.

The LOH Box Office, 21 Central Ave. (on the second floor of the Lancaster Town Hall),  is open Monday through Friday (9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and one hour before curtain on show nights. For more information, call 683-1776 or visit www.LancOpera.org.
