'Christmas in the Village' news and notes

Final plans are still coming together for "Christmas in the Village" in Youngstown, taking place Saturday, Dec. 11, at locations in the village

Organizer Claudia Andres reports the following vendors (offerings listed) will participate in the Christmas Market running from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Red Brick School village center gym:

Plum Creek Staffs -- hiking and walking staffs, magnetic jewelry; Charlies -- flags, military items, pewter jewelry; Cramer's Creations/Barker Chocolates -- handmade chocolates; Whispering Pines Farm -- home raised/handmade wool and felt items; Angelwood Gifts -- hand-painted glassware; Dolly Printup -- Iroquois raised beadwork; Ron DeFazio -- handmade gemstone jewelry; Presbyterian Health & Wellness, LoPro Market -- spices, fruits and vegetables; Eric Samulski -- handcrafted Celtic woodworking; One of a Kind -- hand-turned wooden and gourd items; Book Corner -- books, local authors/history/interest; Gretchen Duling/Sue Diez/Amy Freiermuth -- author signings; Youngstown Peace Garden Committee -- Christmas greens decorations; SaraKate Creations -- handmade bead bracelets; Fran Steele - tie-dyed items; Craft Group -- handcrafted gifts; Youngstown Free Library -- Village of Youngstown items; Historical Society -- historical items; and various vendors -- winter clothing items.

Musical entertainment includes: Julie Winden, Ladies First Jazz; Anita and Don Harless, Thymelass; Marcia and Monte Jones, Step in Time; Nick Riciutti and Rich Jagow; Claudia Andres; the Lewiston Choraleers; the Presbyterian vocal and instrumental choirs; and Dennis Duling and Mark Miller.

Clarifying last weekend's Sentinel report, Andres informs that the take-away crafts for children event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. in the Youngstown Free Library at the Red Brick village center. And the Kids Count dinner, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, will feature a Chinese auction. Cost is adults, $6; children, $4.
