The annual Tour of Homes returns Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5
and organizers, the Lewiston Historical Association, are anticipating a "best
ever" event for its biggest fundraiser of the year.
With its theme of "Christmas Grace," the Lewiston Home Tour event
coincides with the annual Lewiston Christmas Walk that same weekend.
Tickets, priced at $25, are now available. The tour includes:
- A spectacular showcase of Lewiston's most fabulous homes. Five
homes have been selected to be dressed for the season by Western New York's
finest professional designers. Each home will also feature a tablescape or two,
offering more innovative entertaining ideas.
Locations include: Belvedere Hall, 400 Plain St.; The Fleming
House, 315 Niagara St.; The Wright House, 330 Niagara St.; The Painted Lady,
4655 Lower River Road and Roemer's Retreat, 4617 Vrooman Drive.
Home Tour visitors are invited to park their vehicles and ride to
the homes on the tour on the Great Lakes Real Estate Polar Express. Trolleys
will make a continuous circuit from the village to featured homes. Scheduled
stops will be at the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa, The Country Doctor on Center
Street, the Lewiston Museum and each of the homes on the tour. However, feel
free to flag one down anywhere along the route.
- A Town and Country Christmas Wedding, complete with a bride in a
couture dress, a groom, flowers, music and "all things romantic," report
organizers. It takes place at the historic First Presbyterian Church on South
Fifth and Cayuga streets in the Village of Lewiston. The event is offered by
the region's most prestigious wedding planners and The Plant Place and Flower
Basket. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the historical
significance of this old stone church and are invited to stop by anytime during
tour hours.
- A special dessert-tasting (included in the ticket price) will be
provided at the Barton Hill Hotel & Spa, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day,
featuring holiday pastries from two of Lewiston's award-winning bakeries, The
Village Bake Shoppe and DiCamillo Bakery. All visitors can partake in a
signature poinsettia cocktail, compliments of Supermarket Liquors and Wines and
Wine Stuff and More.
- A holiday jewelry show that will be held in the Barton Hill
Hotel's Fairbanks Room. There will be 17 jewelry vendors offering a variety of
styles to choose from, including artistic, vintage, modern and traditional.
This is an opportunity to get started on Christmas shopping or even to purchase
a little treat for yourself, report organizers.
- In addition, a selection of holiday and other items featured at
the Home Tour by various decorators and retailers will be available for
purchase by the general public at a special "After the Tour Sale" at The Wright
House, located at 330 Niagara St. The sale will be offered on Friday, Dec. 10,
from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public
is invited to attend and no ticket purchase is necessary. For more information,
