Joe Petrozzi and his son, Russ, of Capitol Cleaners are again collecting, cleaning and giving gently used coats and other winter wear to the needy families in Western New York.

The distribution day is Saturday, Dec. 4, at the 1227 Main St., location in Niagara Falls. Contributors may use the Portage Road warehouse entrance.

Back in 1966, the senior Petrozzi saw a need for children in Niagara Falls to have good, warm coats. In subsequent years, the program expanded to include hats, gloves, scarves and garments for adults.

"We call it ‘Coats 4 Kids' because that's how it started," Joe Petrozzi stated. "We now have families come in, and we take care of the whole family." The United Way also works after the Dec. 4 distribution day to give away coats throughout the community.

All Capitol Cleaners locations continue to accept donations. Donors may drop off gently used garments to 1227 Main St., Niagara Falls; 435 Main St., Youngstown; 1723 Military Road, Town of Niagara; 245 Portage Road, Lewiston; and 2385 Grand Island Blvd., Grand Island.
