The Niagara County Community College Life Sciences Division unveiled its new surgical technology lab at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Oct. 13 in the Science Building on the Sanborn campus.

The lab underwent a $95,000 transformation with funds obtained through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act.

"This newly renovated facility will give our students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and will help the students feel as if they are in an actual surgical environment. This will help prepare the students to enter clinical facilities," Gemma Fournier, NCCC surgical technology program coordinator said.

The lab is equipped with two operating room bed set ups, six scrub sinks, two functioning OR lights mounted to the ceiling, and a SMART classroom.
