The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University welcomed more than 200 guests to its eighth annual gala on Saturday, Oct. 16. Proceeds from the event will benefit the museum's art education and exhibition-related programs.

Under the theme of "Fly Me to the Moon!," attendees enjoyed a convivial evening of silent and live auctions, featuring artworks by both nationally recognized and regional artists, as well as entertainment packages, jewelry, designer handbags, fine wines and more.

Pam and Joe Priest served as the gala's honorary co-chairs, and spoke to the audience about the importance of the arts in the community and in an educational setting.

The gala's theme was inspired by an ongoing exhibition at the museum, "Fly Me to the Moon: A Celebration of Celestial Bodies in the Permanent Collection," which continues through Feb. 28, 2011. All works that appear in the exhibition were selected from the Castellani's collection and depict Earth's lunar neighbor in a variety of mediums.
