At a recent trade event, a state assemblyman posed the question: "As a local manufacturer can you afford not to export when 95 percent of the world's population lives outside the U.S. borders?"

In order to highlight the significance of international markets and the potential opportunities that exist for area manufacturers, the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency, the Niagara County Community College Small Business Development Center and Empire State Development have partnered to conduct an export workshop to discuss opportunities that could help manufacturers grow beyond the domestic marketplace.

The complimentary workshop will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 6311 Inducon Corporate Drive, Sanborn.

The event will feature trade expert Ed Kowalewski, director of international programs with the state Department of Economic Development, and Pauline Soeffing, SBDC assistant director. They will both focus on issues of the markets access and small business assistance available to those who are interested in international market opportunities in the growth economies.
