'American Idol' announces L.A. as final audition city

In celebration of the series' momentous 10th anniversary, and in an effort to give tens of thousands of hopefuls the opportunity to audition, "American Idol" will host auditions in Los Angeles beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22.

The 10th season of "American Idol" premieres January 2011 on Fox.

"This summer we have had an exceptional turnout -- both in the number of people auditioning and the level of their talent," said "American Idol" executive producer Ken Warwick. "Los Angeles has always delivered great talent, and so we feel it only fitting that we end our 10th season audition tour here in our home city."

As previously announced, "American Idol" has also expanded the eligibility age range for the first time ever to include hopefuls from 15 to 28 years old.

Audition Information

WHO: Men and women 15-28 years old as of July 17, 2010, who are eligible to work in the U.S. Some restrictions apply -- visit americanidol.com for specific information.

WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010

HOW:  Wristbands will be distributed from approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, until approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Auditioners will not be permitted to camp out. Once auditioners obtain their wristbands, they will be asked to return to The Forum by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 22.
