The Niagara River Anglers Association will be hosting its annual walleye contest from sunrise until 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 28, at Fort Niagara in Youngstown.

Participants can sign up the day of the event at the Fort Niagara State Park boat launch or pre-register at Creek Road Bait and Tackle, 4419 Creek Road, Lewiston. Those who pre-register become eligible for the $50 Early Bird Drawing. The event includes a shore picnic with hotdogs, hamburgers, pop and water at the launch, following the awards presentations.

Eligible waters include the Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario, U.S. and Canadian waters. The event is a live fish contest. The scales will be open from sunrise to 2 p.m. Anglers may weigh-in up to the state limit of three fish anytime during the contest in order to release their fish, if desired for conservation.

NRAA membership applications will be available at the event. "Come join us for a fun filled day on the River," says Capt. Stephen Drabczyk,
