LCTV debuts new children's program

Chris Burke, the actor best known for his role as Corky on the ABC series "Life Goes On," is starring in a new educational children's television program titled "Forever Friends." The program also stars and features the music of award-winning children's recording artists Joe and John DeMasi.

"Forever Friends" is produced by Rissa Productions, a production company in Wilson, and Creative Arts and Abilities, a national not-for-profit organization that promotes inclusion and ability-awareness through the visual and performing arts. The program targets children 3 to 7 years of age and delivers a message of friendship, tolerance and inclusion.

Viewers will follow Chris, Joe and John, their pesky cat, Feedback, and their talking computer, Newton, on various fun-filled adventures as they sing along, sign along, celebrate abilities and teach the message that we are all more alike than we are different.

"I am so excited to be part of this show. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they don't have the ability to be your friend. That is the message that this show will bring," said Burke.

"Forever Friends" airs on LCTV Channel 20 at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7; 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9; 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.

Funding for the program is currently made possible through private, tax-deductible donations and grants. Creative Arts and Abilities plans to make the show available free of charge to cable access stations across the U.S. The program's producers are currently seeking sponsors or underwriters.
