Despite threatening weather over parts of the area last weekend, the 37th edition of the Youngstown Yacht Club Level Regatta went off as scheduled out on the waters of Lake Ontario. A total of 180 boats entered this year's Level, regarded as one of the largest keelboat regattas in North America. They came from throughout southern Ontario, Western New York, and from such distant ports as New Jersey, Ohio, Quebec and California. The sailors came to compete -- and for the social experience that has become the Level at YYC. In the photos, boats are seen on the lake and on the lower Niagara Saturday, as dozens join in for a riverside gathering that included food, beverages and the sounds of Soul Committee. Final race results are still being tabulated. (photos by Terry Duffy)
