Raise your spirits and celebrate Niagara Falls history

The Niagara Arts and Culture Center is presenting Raise Your Spirits featuring a significant kite flyer on Saturday, July 17, from 3 to 8 p.m.

Visitors will be able to explore and learn about the significant kite flyer, Homan Walsh. He was the 16-year-old boy who won the famous kite-flying contest that carried a starter line over the Niagara River to build the suspension bridge. Biographer Meg Robinson-Albers will share the life of Homan and his accomplishments.

Visitors can also meet and greet Homan and other historic figures buried at the museum.

The schedule for Friday and Saturday is:

3 to 8 p.m.

  • Historic cemetery tour
  • The NACC gift shop
  • Basket raffle

5 to 7 p.m. (Must be 21 years old to sample)

  • Summertime picnic meal catered by Hot Stuff Southern Café
  • Sparkeltini (an Italian Spumanti by Verdi) tasting

The ticket prices are $30 in advance; $40 in advance including tasting and signature wine glass; $40 at the door; and $50 at the door including tasting and signature wine glass for adults. Children under 12 years old are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Tickets are available at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, or can be purchased online at www.thenacc.org with a printed receipt.
