More than 400 pounds of smelt was battered, fried and served Friday during the annual Lewiston Smelt Festival on North Water Street. The event was sponsored by the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, the Niagara River Anglers, The Silo Restaurant, Waste Management and the Village of Lewiston.
