Near-perfect summer weather meant a whole host of activities for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike in northern Niagara County over the Fourth of July weekend. Among the many happenings was the annual MacKenzie Highlanders "Bagpipe Tribute to Veterans" concert July 3 in Falkner Park in Youngstown; more than 800 re-enactors on hand to bring history alive for large crowds at Old Fort Niagara; the annual Patriots Parade in Olcott; the Town of Porter's "Summerfest" last Sunday at Porter on the Lake (complete with all-day concerts and fireworks over Lake Ontario); and a spectacular fireworks display Monday evening over Lewiston.
