Grand opening festivities took place Monday, May 16. Local and elected leaders participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. That was followed by remarks by Village of Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano, "Judge Piper"(aka Jerry Mosey), and Deputy Mayor Bruce Sutherland.

The welcome center opened to the public on June 21. It offered bike rentals, brochures and information. The volunteer working that day was Claudia Sebring.
