Mary Margaret (Hardy) Smith
Mary Margaret (Hardy) Smith, a Grand Island resident,
passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007. She was the beloved wife of the
late Clarence G. “Bud” Smith; the mother of William “Lee” (Pat) Smith,
Colin (Susan) Smith, Leslie (Judy) Smith and Valerie (Robert) Funk;
the grandmother of Lynn (Mark) Fotia, Terri, Douglas and Adrienne Smith
and Jordan, Bryan and Adam Funk; the great-grandmother of Vince David
and John Paul Fotia; the sister of Francis “Bud” (Sis) Hardy, Beatrice
Hillock, Editha Germain, James (Elsie) Hardy and the late Norine Feldman
and Elizabeth Miller.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 9,
at 10 a.m., in St. Stephen Church, 2100 Baseline Road. Interment will
be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made
to a church of your choice for a Mass in Mary’s honor.

John James ‘Jim’ Fitz-Patrick
John James “Jim” Fitz-Patrick, 69, of Niagara Falls, passed away on
Saturday, June 23, 2007. He worked for 30 years as an assistant vice
president for the Niagara Permanent Savings Bank on Main Street and
Military Road before retiring in 1991. He served for 25 years as the
Niagara County Builder’s Association executive officer.
Fitz-Patrick was a member of the American Savings and Loan Institute
and the Niagara Falls Board of Realtors. He also volunteered with the
Niagara Falls Planning Board and the Opportunities Unlimited board
of directors. A 44-year member of St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church,
Fitz-Patrick belonged to the Holy Name Society and worked with Catholic
Charities.
In the NCBA newsletter, members wrote, “Jim was the consummate professional,
meticulous in keeping our business affairs in order. (He) loved to
laugh, and was a friend to all. We will miss him.”
Jim was the son of John A. and Margaret Ada (Egan) Fitz-Patrick. He
is survived by his wife, Jenny Joann (Battaglia) Fitz-Patrick; his
son, James Alan (Nancy) Fitz-Patrick of Williamsville; his daughter,
Joann (Paul) Van Dalen of Apex, N.C.; his sister, Mary Ann (Herb) Brown
of Boynton Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John De LaSalle on June
28. Interment is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 462 Evans St.,
Williamsville, NY 14221.

Andrea M. (Duffy) Switzer
Andrea M. (Duffy) Switzer, a resident of Grand Island, passed away
on Tuesday, July 10, 2007.
She was formerly an elementary school teacher in Vernon, Vt.
Andrea was wife to the late Vernon Switzer; the daughter of Jane A.
and the late Francis P. Duffy; the sister of Michael J. (Carol) Duffy;
and the aunt of Christopher Duffy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, at the Kaiser Funeral
Home. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Island Memorial Library (Children’s
Library), 1715 Bedell Road, Grand Island.

Robert E.
Brennan
Robert E. Brennan, a resident of Grand Island, passed away on Monday,
July 23, 2007.
He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean
War. Brennan was retired from Bryant Heating and Air in Tonawanda.
Robert was the son of the late Harry and Marie Brennan. He was husband
to the late Barbara C. Brennan; the father of Patrick (Jennifer) Brennan
of Douglasville, Ga.; the grandfather of Jack and Jessica Brennan;
the brother of Charles (Sharon) Brennan and the late Martin (survived
by wife, Jean) Brennan, Joan Brennan, Richard (survived by wife, Mary)
Brennan, Carol (survived by husband, Charles) Berlinger and Edward
Brennan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday at the Kaiser Funeral Home. A 10 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 27, at St.
Stephen R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.

Gordon E. Muck
Gordon E. Muck passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, in Beechwood
Continuing Care, Amherst. He was born in Lockport and was a resident
of Grand Island
For 77 years, he was married to Ruth (Slacer) Muck. Gordon is survived
by his daughter, Linda M. McGuire of Grand Island, and his sister,
Gloria Carlton. Ruth predeceased Gordon.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Beechwood
Continuing Care, 2235 Millersport Highway, Getzville, NY 14068, or
to Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island,
NY 14072.
Memorial services will be held at Trinity on Saturday, Aug. 11, at
10 a.m. Interment will be in Trinity Church Cemetery.

Ibrahim A. R. Khreis
Ibrahim A. R. Khreis, 81, a Grand Island resident, passed away on
Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, after a brief illness. He was the son of the
late Abdul Rahman and Sheikha Hemad Khreis of Jordan.
He was the loving husband of Sheila Khreis; the father of Linda (Philip
Russo) Khreis, David (Sally) Khreis, Alan (Cindie) Khreis of Dallas,
Susan (Timothy Rovillo) Khreis, Donald Khreis, Carol (Jay) Giambra,
Jeff (Stacy) Khreis, Janice (Ryan) Shea-Khreis of Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., Barbara Khreis and Joshua Khreis; the beloved grandfather of
Joseph and Sydney Khreis, Samantha Rovillo, Cheyenne Khreis, Ashley
and Katelyn Giambra and Raven Khreis.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Kaiser Funeral Home. Interment
was in Whitehaven Cemetery.

E. Lucille (Mohnkern) Mock-Helbig
E. Lucille (Mohnkern) Mock-Helbig, a 47-year Grand Island resident,
went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007. She was born
in Heathville, Pa., and wed Dale Melvern Mock. They were married for
49 years, and lived together with their 10 children in a black and
white, two-story Cape Cod-style home.
Dale passed away in May 1992, and Lucy married Leo Helbig, a kind
and gentle gentleman who cherished her dearly. He died in April 2001.
She was the organist at both Bible Fellowship Center and the Grand
Island Golden Age Chorale.
Lucy is survived by her loving children, Kenneth (Julie), Charles
(Betty), Gary, Ronald (DonnaJo), Susan, Richard, Catherine (Robert),
Larry (Nancy), Diane (Jamie) and Cindy (Mark) and her stepdaughter
Susan Quarantiello. She was grandmother to 37; great-grandmother to
37; and great-great-grandmother to two; the aunt of five nieces and
nephews; and the sister of Carol (Charles) Laskay and John P. Mohnkern.
A memorial service will be held at the Grand Island Fire Hall on Saturday,
Sept. 1, at 11 a.m.

Joseph Wagner
Joseph Wagner, a long-time Grand Island resident, passed away on Monday,
Aug. 27, 2007. He was the former owner of Wagner Construction Co. on
Grand Island.
The husband of the late Rose Wagner, Joseph was predeceased by his
son, Joseph (survived by wife Lynne) Wagner. He was grandfather to
Gerald (Patricia) and Michael (Joy) Wagner; and great-grandfather to
Megan, Joseph and Jacquelyne Wagner.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., inside
the Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven Road. Interment will be in
Whitehaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.

Linda (Miller) Case
Linda (Miller) Case, a Grand Island resident, passed away on Friday,
Sept. 7, 2007. She is survived by a large and loving family.
The daughter of Claude and Margaret Miller, she was the wife of Ronald
Case; the mother of Ryan and Karen Case; the sister of Dan (Dorann)
and Dale Miller; and the daughter-in-law of Frank and Thurl Case.
Visitation was held Thursday at the Kaiser Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be held today, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m., inside St. Timothy Lutheran
Church, 1453 Staley Road. Interment will be in Whitehaven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church Seminarian Fund.
