Richard K. Lovelee
Richard K. Lovelee passed away on Tuesday,
Sept. 7, 2004. A long-time Grand Island resident, he was
an army veteran of World War II and past fire chief. He
was a lifetime member of the Grand Island Fire Company.
Mr. Lovelee was husband to Dorothy (Lyden) Lovelee for 29
years; dear father to Kenneth (Brenda) Lovelee of Oklahoma
and Judith Kenyon of Buffalo; stepfather to Dawn (Larry)
Hillock of Georgia, Gail (George) Allen of Florida and Gary
(Patricia) Scott of Grand Island; grandfather of ten and
great-grandfather of five. Flowers are gratefully declined.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Island Fire Co.
Funeral arrangements were made by Kaiser
Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven Road.

Randolph
C. 'Randy' Osvath
Randolph
C. “Randy” Osvath, an active Grand Island resident, and
past president of the Rotary Club, passed away suddenly
on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. He was 38.
Born in Tonawanda, Osvath grew up in Wheatfield
and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and the
University at Buffalo.
Osvath, a former lobbyist for the New York
State Life Insurance Underwriters, served as a partner in
the Lewiston Insurance Agency before starting Randolph Capital
Management on Grand Island. He stood to become president
of the state Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
From 2003-04, he served as president of the
Grand Island Rotary Club. Active in establishing various
activities, Osvath was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow
Award earlier this year.
Osvath also served on the Grand Island Economic
Development Committee and was a member of the Buffalo Launch
Club, where he served on the finance and dock committees.
A proficient athlete himself, Osvath was an
ice hockey official for more than 20 years, and served on
the board of directors of the National Ice Hockey Officials
Association.
Osvath, a Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres
fan, was a member of the River Oaks Golf Club and an accomplished
golfer.
Osvath is survived by his wife Elisa (Falvo)
Osvath; a son, Ryan M. Osvath; a daughter, Jessica T. Osvath;
his parents, Margaret and Richard Betz of Wheatfield; a
brother, Stephen (Jennifer) Osvath of Medina, Ohio; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were handled by Kaiser Funeral
Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Stephen’s
Church. Interment in Whitehaven Cemetery.

James F. Sharpe
James
F. Sharpe, 83, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004,
in Humble, Texas.
Sharpe, the son of the late Thomas L. Sharpe
and Emma Ida Fuller, served in the United States Marine
Corps with the 1st Division at Guadal Canal in World War
II. He served with his brother John, who was killed during
the war.
Sharpe was an inventor of many road construction
machines, for which he held patents. In Humble, Sharpe loved
to grow roses and build machines for OJS Machines, a company
he founded.
Predeceased by his wife, Ollie (Walker), and
siblings John, Thomas, Genevieve, Ruth and Rae, Sharpe is
survived by brothers Richard (Edith) and Robert (Barb) Sharpe.
He was loving father to James R. Sharpe, John
(Deborah) Sharpe, Beverly (John) Kinney, Raymond (Cathy)
Sharpe, Michael (Dehlia) Sharpe and Mary Ann (Carlos) Cedeno.
He is also survived by multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct.
4, at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble. Interment will be
in Henry Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Robert Zarbo
Zachary
Robert Zarbo passed away on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004.
His family offers a tribute:
“Our loving son Zachary - you were taken away
much too soon. God’s choir was calling you. We know you
are singing with the angels.
“Zachary, we only had 16 blessed years with
you; your accomplishments were exceptional - VP spot lighters,
concert, jazz and madrigal choruses, NYS choral studies,
GI honor roll, President’s awards, GI swim team, Piranhas
coaches award, AWANA excellence award, piano and dancing.
You made us so very proud.
“Zachary, you were a caring, kindhearted,
loving son and brother. Without you, there is now a void
in our family circle. We will miss you forever.”
Zachary is survived by his parents, Mark and
Deb; his brothers, Mark, Matt and Joseph; grandparents;
Great Oma; aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends too numerous
to name.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in
Zac’s name to the Grand Island High School Spot Lighters
or the Grand Island High School Choir, 1100 Ransom Road,
Grand Island, N.Y., 14072.

Richard Dynko
Kyle Richard
Dynko, the beloved infant son of Dennis and Kimberly (Tortorice)
Dynko, and brother of Ryan and the late Brooke Dynko, passed
away on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.
Dynko is survived by grandparents, Sam and
Nina (Insana) Tortorice, Barbara Dynko and Mr. and Mrs.
James Dynko; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
Saturday, Oct. 30, at St. Stephen’s Church. Interment in
St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Kaiser
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.

Mary Anne Knab
Mary Anne Knab of Grand Island passed away
on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004.
Knab is survived by her husband, Joseph Knab;
two daughters, Christine Anne and Sara Marie Knab; her parents,
Cherie (Thomas) Miller and Paul (Kathryn) Ostermeier; brothers,
Peter (Laurie) Martin, Theresa (Timothy) Brown, Earl Miller
and Heather Mahar; a godfather, Donald P. Martin; aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday and last night
at the Kaiser Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated today at 10 a.m., in St. Stephen’s Church.
Interment will be in Whitehaven Cemetery.

Dean Bucknam
Dean Bucknam of Grand Island passed away on
Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Bucknam was a member of the Knox United Presbyterian
Church and the R.S.E.S. of WNY.
Bucknam was dear husband to the late Velma
(Newhall) Bucknam; dear father to Louanne (late Thomas)
Farrell, Carolyn (David) McFarland, Gordon (Barbara) and
Timothy (Diana) Bucknam; brother to Joy (David) DeGraff
and the late Gordon Bucknam; grandfather to 13 children;
and great-grandfather to 23 children.
Bucknam was waked at the Lester H. Wedekindt
Inc. Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Knox Presbyterian
Church.

Walter J. Kasprzak
Walter J. Kasprzak, 82, passed away on Nov.
25, 2004. Kasprzak was a 25-year member of the Plewacki
Post #799.
He was beloved husband of Monica (nee Kasprzyk);
dearest father of Rosemarie (Gregory) Kud, Joanne (Timothy)
Kud, Ronald (Constance) Kasprzak; grandfather of Jacquelynn,
Jennifer (Melvin) Kirchner, Derek, Robert, Kevin and Krystle;
great-grandfather of Joshua; brother of Helen Burzynski
and Dorothy Budzynski and predeceased by brothers and a
sister; also survived by nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Monday morning
at Queen of Martyr's Church. Interment in St. Stanislaus
Cemetery.

Marie E. Frampton
Marie E. Frampton, 81, passed away on Dec.
7, 2004 at the Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton. She
was a resident of Grand Island and formerly lived in Niagara
Falls.
Frampton was wife to the late Thomas L. Frampton
Sr. Survivors include her children, Thomas L. (Sharon) Frampton
Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., Charles (Deborah) Frampton of Binghamton,
Patricia Biski of Wynantskill, James (Zillah) Frampton of
Bear Del. and William (Laurette) Frampton of Roscommon,
Mich.; she was grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother to
four; she had six brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held today from 2
to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven
Road. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m.
in Bible Presbyterian Church, 1650 Love Road. Interment
in Whitehaven Cemetery.
John R. 'Jack'
Fries
John R. “Jack” Fries of Grand Island passed
away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004.
Fries was a Grand Knight and District Deputy
with the Knights of Columbus, Mary Star of the Sea Council
4752. He was a past Faithful Navigator of the Trinity, a
member of the Grand Island Lions Club and the Holy Name
Society at St. Stephen’s Church. He worked for more than
40 years at Anaconda American Brass in Buffalo before retiring.
He was also an officer in the ARCO Metal Retiree Club.
Fries is survived by his wife Ann. Other survivors
include his children, Janet (Hans) Mobius of Clarence and
Gail (George) Petrie of Syracuse; he was grandfather to
Hans Jr., Pam, Jennifer and Kevin ; he was great-grandfather
to Kelsey and Joseph; he was the brother of the late Raymond
Fries.
Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4
and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven
Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held tomorrow at
St. Stephen’s Church. Interment in St. Stephen’s Church.

Marion Long
Young
Marion Long Young passed away on Monday, Dec.
13, 2004, in Bradenton, Fla., after a brief illness.
Young was born on Grand Island on April 23,
1907, to Eva and Frederick Long. After graduating from Buffalo
Normal School, Long began her teaching career in a one-room
school house on the West River. She taught elementary students
at Sidway and Kaegebein schools. She retired in 1967. Long
enjoyed gardening, traveling and her sharing her experiences.
After moving to Florida, she made summer trips up north
to visit her many friends and family.
Marion is survived by her son, Galen R. Young
of Bradenton. She was preceded in death by her brother,
Karl F. Long. A memorial service will be held at a later
date. Memorials may be made to the Sarasota Succulent Society,
1310 38th St., Sarasota, FL 34237.
Florence Kutzbach
Florence Kutzbach of Venice, Fla., passed
away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004. Born in Kenmore on March
14, 1917, Kutzbach was married to Douglas S. Kutzbach in
1939, and moved to Grand Island, where they raised five
children.
Kutzbach was a former member of Home Bureau,
where she was active in various projects. She was also a
member of Trinity Church. Kutzbach served as office manager
for 20 years at her husband's business, Douglas Equipment
Company. The Kutzbachs retired to Venice, Fla., in 1977,
and were residents of Bay Indies for eight years. From there,
they moved to Mission Lakes, where they lived for 11 years.
Douglas passed away in 1994. Florence married Edwin C. DeGlopper
in 1998 and they moved to Lakeside Woods.
Kutzbach is survived by her husband. Additional
survivors include five children, Douglas J. Kutzbach of
Cheektowaga, Donald R. Kutzbach of Grand Island, Daryl A.
Schaefer of Cleveland, Tenn., Dale C. Kutzbach of Cortland
Manor and Debra L. Roetzer of Akron; eight grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carrie Tiede
and Jacklyn Potter.
A memorial service was held earlier this month
at Grace United Methodist Church in Venice.
George M. Pagan
George M. Pagan passed away on Friday, Dec.
10, 2004. He was 84.
Pagan was a graduate of Buffalo State Teacher's
College. He served in the US Navy from 1943-46. Upon discharge
he was an instructor with the Veteran's Administration.
Pagan was owner and publisher of the Grand Island Dispatch.
Later in life, George moved to Rochester, where he joined
the Rochester City School District as an Industrial Arts
Teacher and later an administrator with the Education Facilities
Dept., retiring in 1980.
Pagan was predeceased by his son, Robert,
and sister, Eleanor Bell. He is survived by his wife, Violet
"Vicky" Mason Avery Pagan; children, John Pagan,
Jean (Steven) Avery Erickson, Lynn (David) Avery Baerman;
sister, Aletta VanHoesen; grandchildren, Jeffrey Pagan,
Douglas Minster, Brian, Keith & Michael Erickson; many
nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at
7 p.m., at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., 735
East Ave., Hilton. Private interment in Parma Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Parkinson
Disease Center Research University of Rochester, 601 Elmwood
Ave, 14642.

Janice Faythe
(Lamb) Bennett
Janice Faythe Bennett, 71, a resident of Fullerton,
Calif., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004.
Bennett was born to Elmer P. Lamb and Adeline
Ethel (Arnold) Lamb on July 1, 1933, in Niagara Falls. She
attended Charlotte Sidway Elementary School, Tonawanda High
School and Fredonia State College.
An accomplished organist, Bennett played for
churches in southern California, as well as at Trinity Church
on Grand Island. She sang with her friend Sally Staley Dworak
there and on a number of radio programs.
In 1956, she moved to Fullerton, Calif., and
in 1962 she married Melvin Bennett of Kentucky, a teacher
for more than 30 years at Fullerton Union High School.
Funeral services were held at the First Evangelical
Free Church of Fullerton. Interment services were held at
Loma Vista Memorial Park. McAulay & Wallace Mortuary
handled the services.
