More than 300 graduates participated in NCCC's 59th commencement

The 59th annual commencement ceremony at Niagara County Community College took place on Saturday, May 13, at the Sanborn campus. More than 300 students crossed the stage to receive their degree.

Suspicious person/weapons violation in Niagara Falls

On May 6, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a call reporting that a suspicious male was in possession of a gun. The male was reported to have stated that he was going to shoot someone. The male was originally reported to be in the area of Hyde Park Boulevard in the Town of Niagara.

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the westbound Niagara Scenic Parkway will be closed in the City of Niagara Falls from the LaSalle Expressway to Buffalo Avenue on Tuesday, May 9, to facilitate paving. The closure will be in place from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists traveling westbound should follow the posted detour.

NORLIC awarded $1.4M grant by Housing Trust Fund

(NORLIC) - often referred to as the Land Bank - has been awarded a $1.4 million grant by the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corp. and NYS Homes and Community Renewal. NORLIC had submitted an application for the competitive grant program earlier this year.
Student persuades NCCC administration to adopt composting program

During the spring 2022 semester, several NCCC students from professor Marc Pietrzykowski's writing for STEM class completed a group research project about waste management at NCCC. Inspired, one of the group members, Meredith Preve, lifted the words from their paper and molded them into a new, hands-on project at the college.

Niagara County Legislature Chairman Becky Wydysh announced Niagara County is partnering with Niagara University and GreenSheen to host a paint recycling event on Saturday, April 15. Any latex or oil-based paint in its original container can be accepted at no cost. Residents and businesses are allowed to bring up to 50 gallons of paint to the event.
