YMCA Buffalo Niagara has unveiled the anticipated T-shirt for the 127th annual YMCA Turkey Trot. Organizers said, "This year's T-shirt pays homage to the thousands of trotters who have participated over the years in the oldest consecutively run footrace in the world. The T-shirt showcases runners strolling in the background with the gorgeous City of Buffalo skyline in the foreground."

The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area has initiated a series of public murals to bring visibility to the Main Street community in the north end of the City of Niagara Falls. Murals have been painted in four separate locations within a one-week period to bring awareness to a dilapidated Main Street, engaging the community through art.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown on Friday announced the establishment of the May 14th Memorial Commission in response to the mass shooting at a Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue earlier this year. The commission will develop and advise on a plan to site and build a physical memorial in east Buffalo to memorialize the life and legacy of the residents lost that day.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced a federal grant totaling $365,535 awarded to the Massachusetts Avenue Project and Grassroots Gardens of Western New York. Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is awarded through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Community Food Projects Grant program. The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) announced next steps in the state's $15 minimum hourly wage phase-in. Commissioner Roberta Reardon issued an order calling for the minimum wage rate in counties outside of New York City, Long Island and Westchester to rise by $1 per hour, from $13.20 to $14.20, following a statutorily required economic analysis conducted by the New York State Division of the Budget (DOB).

The City of Buffalo's indoor swimming pools will return to their pre-summer hours, starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, following a summer of free, extended hours. The city's Cazenovia Park and Lovejoy pools were open on weekends, and expanded weekday schedules from July 1 through Labor Day in response to the extreme shortage of certified lifeguards, which forced Buffalo's outdoor swimming and wading pools to remain closed this summer.
